Post subject: Bangladesh political news-Khaleda urges all parties to polls Reply with quote

Dhaka, Dec 13 (bdnews24.com) – BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Wednesday asked political parties to take part in elections that she said must be held in 90 days to avoid a constitutional crisis.

She alleged that the Awami League and its 13 allies conspired to thwart the polls by raising endless demands.

"Nobody will be allowed to mar the elections. Elections must be held in 90 days. We want all parties to go to the polls," Khaleda said at a function at her Hawa Bhaban office where a splinter of Awami League and Gono Forum activists joined the BNP.

Khaleda came down hard on the AL.

"The party (AL) did not make the least contribution to development when it was in power and it did nothing but created anarchy when in opposition."

In line with AL demands, the voter list was updated, the election schedule was revised, administration was shuffled and many were sacked from jobs, Khaleda said. "They are now raising new demands," she said.
