Post subject: No objection to a changed poll schedule: Bhuiyan Reply with quote

Dhaka, Dec 7 (bdnews24.com) – BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan Thursday said his alliance would not object to changes to the poll schedule.

The statement came after a meeting with advisers at state guesthouse Padma amid expectations that the political gridlock would come to end by Thursday.

Three advisers Thursday sat with two bickering political alliances for a consensus on a raft of proposals designed to end the lingering political mess.

Bhuiyan urged the advisers to the caretaker government to work neutrally.

He questioned neutrality of some advisers, but did not name anybody.

"It is not your responsibility to see who participates in the election and who does not. Expedite election process immediately. It is not the job of the advisers to implement agenda of any party," he told the advisers from a rally in front of BNP headquarters at Naya Paltan in the afternoon.

Bhuiyan will announce the BNP-led four-party alliance's next programme from a rally at Muktangan in the city on Saturday.

Dhaka City BNP President Sadeque Hossain Khoka chaired the rally.

Bhuiyan accused the Awami League of trying to foil the election on various excuses because they do not want polls. He said election must be completed in 90 days according to the constitution.

He said there is no end to the Awami League's demands.

The BNP secretary general asked the caretaker government to assist the Election Commission to hold election in time.

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid they understand some advisers are threatening the election commissioners to go on leave in the name of reconstituting the Election Commission.

Bhuiyan asked them to refrain from such activities. "Otherwise, you will have to be in the dock for such unconstitutional acts."
