Post subject: Should Sheikh Hasina/Khaleda Zia be expelled from politics? Reply with quote

Before I say anything I want everyone to know that I come from a very strong political family and what I say here is not biased, well atleast I try not to be biased. I am the son of a former minister/mp/freedom fighter and my alliegence lies to my country only and to nothing else. I am currently a student of Journalism/Creative Media Writing. The reason for me saying all about myself is so that people know that I know the ins and outs of everything that goes on within a political party and all I want is to know what the masses think on the subject of whether we should consider expelling both Sheikh Hasina (SH) or Khaleda Zia (KZ) from the political arena of Bangladesh. I have seen the growth of politics for the past 23 years and I regret to say our country is not just a democratic nation but rather a 'Monarchic Democracy'. Something along the lines of what would be a typical medieval monarchy; ruled by kings/queens/princes/princesses etc but in this case also with an elected senate/parliament. Give me a moment as I try to elaborate. Both SH and KZ are either the spouse or the offspring of a former political leader and what has been happening till before the Caretaker Government played it's cards, was that their son's were next in line to come to power. A modern day democracy should never have such methods for choosing a leader of each of it's parties. The way a person is selected to represent the party and lead it at the same time is through internal voting, i.e. electing a representative to lead the individual parties, within the parties. Usually via elections where MP's MP's, student leaders and all other members participate, if not all the members then atleast the MPs. But such a sight will not be seen unless both SH and KZ are banned from politics.

So the questions you should ask yourselves are:

1. Have we seen enough corruption and blunder in our country brought about mostly by the likes of Hossain Muhammed Ershad, Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia and do we want to put a stop to this for good?

2. Has the wealth of our country been plundered and robbed enough by them and is it not high time that we as the citizens of Bangladesh want change drastically?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I eagerly await your points of view so please hurry and let me know!
