Post subject: Yunus off to Oslo to receive Reply with quote

Nobel peace prize winner Prof Muhammad Yunus left for Norwegian capital of Oslo on Friday to receive the Nobel prize.
Yunus, accompanied by a 78-member delegation, including his wife Aforzi Yunus, daughter Dina, Grameen Bank board members, officials and borrowers, left Dhaka at about 2:00pm by a specially chartered Biman.
Yunus’s daughter Monika Yunus will join the delegation from the USA.
Bangladesh Television and Channel i will air the official Nobel prize-giving ceremony live tomorrow between 6:00pm and 7:25pm (Bangladesh time).
Grameen Bank board member and borrower, Taslima Begum, representing Grameen Bank, will jointly receive the prize with Prof Yunus at the ceremony.
Yunus will deliver the ‘Nobel Lecture’ at the ceremony to be attended by current and former heads of state and world political leaders, who will later attend the Nobel peace prize banquet in the evening.
The King and the Queen of Norway will attend the banquet for the first time in its history.
Prior to his departure, Yunus told the newsmen, ‘I’m proud and feel glad as I’m going to receive the prize with them for whom I work hard.’
Terming this a rare occasion, he said: ‘We’ve been able to create an example, now it is time for all of us to march ahead. Particularly, this prize will motivate the youths.’
He added: ‘We got the prize for peace; so, I want to see a positive change in the country following my return with the prize.’
Yunus will return to Dhaka on December 19.
